Off-on-off luminescent switching of a dye containing imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthroline

A new acid-base fluorescent switch containing both imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]-phenanthroline and triphenylamine groups has been synthesized.Its fluorescence emissions and absorptions can be reversibiy changed through protonation/deprotonation of imidazole and amine moiety by controlling the intramolecular charge transfer(ICT) process,leading to off-on-off fluorescent molecular switching.     

High performance liquid chromatography with immobilized Ru(bpy)_3~(2+)-KMnO_4 chemiluminescence detection and its application in metabolism of repaglinide in pig liver microsomes

A novel high performance liquid chromatography-chemiluminescence（HPLC-CL） method for investigation of in vitro metabolism of repaglinide in pig liver microsomes with microdialysis sampling technique was developed.The chromatographic separation was performed on a Hypersil BDS-C18 column with an isocratic mobile phase consisting of methanol and 0.01 mol/L KH₂PO₄（pH 3.0）（volume ratio 75:25） at a flow rate of 1.0 mL/min.The detection was based on the chemiluminescence reaction of repaglinide with acidic potassium permanganate（KMnO₄） and tris（2,2’-bipyridyl）ruthenium（Ⅲ）(Ru（bpy）₃³⁺),which was immobilized on the cationic ion-exchange resin for obtaining high sensitivity and reducing consumption of expensive reagent.     

Effects of cosolvent on formation and morphology of microspheres in precipitation polymerization of divinylbenzene in supercritical carbon dioxide

Precipitation polymerizations of divinylbenzene(DVB) in pure supercritical carbon dioxide,and parallel runs with presence of a cosolvent were carried out.The results showed that use of acetone as the cosolvent contributed greatly to the formation of the monodisperse microspheres.PDVB microspheres,with obviously higher uniformity than reported up to date,were achieved using 6-7 mL of acetone in a reactor of 50 mL with DVB concentration of 0.4 mol/L under 16 MPa,a much lower pressure than previously reported without use of cosolvent.     

Pyridinium tribromide catalyzed condensation of indoles and aldehydes to form bisindolylalkanes

An efficient synthetic method for bis(indol-3-yl)alkane derivatives has been developed.In the presence of 5 mol%of pyridinium tribromide(PTB),the condensation of indoles and aldehydes proceeded smoothly under mild conditions,giving rise to the corresponding bis(indol-3-yl)alkanes in good to excellent yields.     

P-Dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid(DBSA),a Brфnsted acid-surfactant catalyst for Biginelli reaction in water and under solvent free conditions

We report herein the use of p-dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid(DBSA) as a catalyst for a one-pot Biginelli reaction to afford 3,4- dihydropyrimidinone derivatives in good to excellent yields.This reaction proceeds efficiently in water and under solvent free conditions.Comparisons of results indicate that although the yields are high and comparable for both methods,the reaction times are considerably shorter under solvent free conditions.     

Influence of bromoalkyloxy side chain on mesomorphic behavior in heterocyclic 7-(4-bromoalkyloxy)-3-(4′-decyloxyphenyl)-4H- 1-benzopyran-4-ones

A new homologous series of isoflavone-based ethers,7-(4-bromoalkyloxy)-3-(4’-decyloxyprienyl)-4H-1-benzopyran-4-ones were synthesized and characterized.The mesomorphic properties of all homologues were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) and polarizing optical microscopy(POM).Enantiotropic smectic A(SmA) phase was observed for all homologues.The structure-property study was carried out by comparing the mesomorphic behavior of the homologues with those previously reported analogues.The bromine atom from the alkyloxy side chain of the benzene ring fused to the heterocyclic moiety was found to be capable of changing the mesomorphic properties.     

Coral reef-like polyanaline nanotubes prepared by a reactive template of manganese oxide for supercapacitor electrode

Coral reef-like PANI nanotubes composed of nanopaticles were successfully synthesized by a reactive template of manganese oxide.The structure was characterized by using SEM,TEM,and FT-IR,and the supercapacitive behaviors of these nanotubes were investigated with cyclic voltammetry（CV）,and charge-discharge tests,respectively.A maximum specific capacitance of 533 F/g could be achieved in 1mol/L aqueous H₂SO₄ with the potential range of -0.2 to 0.8 V（vs.the saturated calomel electrode） in a half-cell setup configuration for PANI electrode,suggesting its potential application in the electrode material for electrochemical capacitors.     

Synthesis and characterization of novel conjugated polymers based on 3-cyclobutene-l,2-dione moiety

Three novel conjugated polymers bearing 3,4-bis(4-hexylthiophen-2-yl)-3-cyclobutene-1,2-dione unit in their main chain have been synthesized successfully in good yields through Suzuki or Stille coupling reaction.Their molecular structures have been confirmed by FT-IR,~1H NMR and ~(13)C NMR.All these copolymers exhibit broad and strong absorption bands in UV-vis region,and their optical band gaps are calculated to be 1.6-2.0 eV.suggesting that they have good coverage with the solar spectrum.These polymers...     

Probing cytotoxicity of CdSe and CdSe/CdS quantum dots

Toxicities of CdSe and CdSe/CdS quantum dots(QDs) synthesized by ultrasound-assisted methods were investigated in vitro and in vivo.Five human cell lines were used to assess the cytotoxicity of as-prepared CdSe and CdSe/CdS by assays of MTT viability,red blood cell hemolysis,flow cytometry,and fluorescence imaging.The results show that these QDs may be cytotoxic by their influence in S and G2 phases in cell cycles.The cytotoxicity of QDs depends on both the physicochemical properties and related to target cells.     

Melamine-(H_2SO_4)_3 and PVP-(H_2SO_4)_n as solid acids:Synthesis and application in the first mono-and di-nitration of bisphenol A and other phenols

Melamine and poly vinylpyrrolidone（PVP） reacted with neat sulfuric acid readily to form two new organic solid acids namely melamine-（H₂SO₄）₃ and PVP-（H₂SO₄）_n.These solid acids were used for the first nitration of bisphenol A as well as other phenols in the presence of NH₄NO₃.Mono- and di-nitro bisphenol A have been characterized with IR and ¹H NMR techniques.
